We want you to know how the guides on this site are made, so here it is plainly.
What AI does here
- Research and drafting. Our guides are researched and drafted with the help of AI tools, working from the public sources each guide lists: NFPA, USFA, CPSC and Ready.gov guidance, published standards, and manufacturers’ pages and manuals.
- Automated checks. Before a guide goes up, each draft goes through automated checks for originality, factual claims against the cited sources, links and affiliate labels, SEO, and proofreading.
- A second editorial pass. The draft is then built into a page and re-reviewed in a separate editorial pass, which is also AI-assisted.
What a person does, and doesn’t do
The site owner sets the editorial rules (research-based only, no hands-on testing claims, maker claims labeled, no prices) and oversees the process. The site owner does not personally fact-check every article, and nobody on the team is a fire-safety professional. That’s why every guide links to its sources, and why we ask you to tell us when something looks wrong.
What AI doesn’t do
- It doesn’t test products. No guide on this site is based on hands-on testing.
- It doesn’t invent experience. Our guides don’t describe using, installing or climbing anything.
- It doesn’t replace your fire department, your local code official or the manufacturer’s instructions.
